Created in 1989 by Dr. JoAnn Ajayi-Scott, her twin sister, Margie Ramsey and 21 other ladies, Essence of a Lady, Inc. recruits professional and entrepreneurial women to help educate, mentor, and empower school-age girls. Although they have had the support of over 400 women to support over 1000 youth, they have been the backbone of Essence of a Lady for over 33 years.
Seeing the need to provide mentoring support to a girls’ program in school, Dr. Ajayi-Scott created a network of philanthropists called the Essence Ladies (aka E’Ladies) for women 20 years old and up. and Young Essence Ladies…Learning (aka YELL!) Mentoring Program for girls 6-19 years old to benefit in 2003 in Atlanta, Georgia. Almost 20 years later, the Essential Men’s (E’Men’s) Network for men 20 years old and up and Young Men Empowered (Y-ME?) was piloted in 2016 and launched in January 2021. Over 90% of youth have graduated from high school, 75% graduated from college and leading productive lives. Many have started their own businesses and/or nonprofit organizations. Today, Essence of a Lady has distributed over $25, 000 in scholarships dating back to 2009 when we gave our first $100 scholarship!! Now, each year we award 2-$500 scholarships to a graduating girl and boy!! Join th movement at eladies.org!Detail description about your listing
