SHORT BIO
> Producer-director-filmmaker and acclaimed classical singer Susheel Bibbs has been called “splendid, piquant, and charming” by the press and “quite simply superb” by US opera and concert critics worldwide. Winner of a national EMMY, she was once the youngest Executive producer of a national PBS series and is the winner of over 26 independent film awards, including 2 Telly Awards and 3 awards for directing. In both The Arts and Humanities, the San Francisco Supervisors have awarded Bibbs their Highest Commendation and the title “foremost expert on Mary Pleasant, California’s Mother of Civil Rights, ” (whom Bibbs researched for over 30 years), and she now has two documentaries on Mary Pleasant and one on The Hyers Sisters on PBS nationally.
> Bibbs has been profiled nationally on PBS Arts Showcase and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Marquis Who’s Who Among Women. She is the founder of The Living Heritage Foundation, which helps expand the careers of other professional artists.
